Nosh N Walk: Week 12

Image
05/24/2021 #MillersNoshNwalk week 12: LeAnn and I had a special Rendezvous last Saturday, where she came with me to drop me off at the Aquarium for my volunteer shift in the morning. She then went on a walk with a friend on Ruston Way and I took my weekly morning walk around the Zoo before starting my work at the Aquarium. (For this week, we can call it #MillersWalkNnosh 😉) We met back up at 11:00 and then trekked out to Allyn on the peninsula to Big Bubbas Burgers. We had tried coming out here a few months back, but it was shut down at the time because of youknowwhat. It was definitely worth the effort! The burgers were fantastic. We both got Avocado, Swiss & Bacon burgers. It was a bit chilly outside, so we drove across the street to a park on the beach, where we parked on the beach. 🙂 The shakes were too thick to drink through a straw, but luckily, we had backup plastic spoons in the car. They even had Fry Sauce! Which is quite rare in Washington. It did have a bit of a kick ...

Seattle to Bahia Blanca: mile 6,719

05/18/2021 As I close in on this last month of the #seattletobahiablanca journey, I have been able to complete 6,719 miles and only have 301 left till I arrive in Bahia Blanca! It has been a long and tough journey, with many ups and downs. It has been painful on my body at times, but also kept me stronger. There have been days when I dread having to walk one more step, and others where I never want to stop. There were so many days that I thought of Austin out walking the streets of Argentina as a missionary and the trials and joyous moments that he had, and I felt like he was walking right beside me. Fast forward to him coming home for Covid, going back out to Las Vegas, and then coming home for surgery — so many wonderful and hard things. All which he has conquered and come out stronger because of them. As Austin has overcome those challenges, so can I keep on walking, toddle on through the pain and difficult days, get that second wind and reach my destination knowing that I never gav...

Week 11: Nosh N Walk

05/14/2021 #MillersNoshNwalk week 11: We found a new local favorite. After being in our new place for almost three years now, we went for the first time to a Mexican place in nearby Milton called Ranchito. The service was great, the atmosphere was nice and the food was AWESOME! We had carne asada, enchiladas, chimichangas, burritos, Chile relleno and all the other good stuff that comes with it! Just be careful with those hot plates - you probably shouldn’t touch them after they tell you they are hot because you want to find out if they are really hot... We enjoyed our dinner together so much that we decided to count our individual 5 mile walks earlier in the day and called it good so we could just head home and bask in the glory of the delicious meals we just had. 😊

Nosh N Walk: Week 10

05/09/2021 #MillersNoshNwalk week 10: Yesterday, we got our 日本食 on and drove down the hill to Puyallup to get some. We went to My Lil’ Cube, and it was 素晴らしい! LeAnn and I both love Japanese food, so we were excited to try this place. It used to drive me crazy when having to wait 30 minutes to get a table, but now with the #covidchaos , I don’t mind as much because I know that the restaurants are doing well when they are backed up with customers. We took our wait time and walked down Meridian and around the train station. We got back just in time for our table to be ready. The food was awesome. We started with Edamame, gyoza and tempura, and finished with Tonkotsu Ramen and Curry donburi bowl. The ramen was 完璧, the Curry was just 大丈夫. We loved everything else. Like Ahhnold says: ‘We’ll be back!”

Nosh N Walk: Week 9

05/02/2021 #MillersNoshNwalk week 9: We don’t go out to eat for Chinese food very often- unless you count Panda Express, which is very infrequently itself. We mixed it up this week and went to the San Wok Express on the East Hill in Kent. This one came on the recommendation of a friend, so we made the trek over to this lovely strip mall- If the food wasn’t so great, you could buoy your spirits by stopping next door for a mani-pedi! As the sign out front noted: it was the ‘Best Chinese Food in Kent’! So that set some high expectations. (Though I don’t know if there are five or 50 Chinese places in Kent...) They didn’t have indoor seating available yet, so we went in for a takeout order. The lady that took our order was fantastic. She was so fun and happy, it was infectious. Within the five minutes of interaction, she made you feel like a good friend. That alone will make you feel good about going back to anyplace. I ordered Broccoli Beef and LeAnn, who has always been a bit more ‘spicy...
