Nosh N Walk: Week 8

Image
04/25/2021 #MillersNoshNwalk week 8: We took a bit of a journey up to the Tulip Festival on Saturday with the constant accompaniment of a nice little drizzle fo shizzle. We planned our outing around going to Skagit County Burgers which was in nearby Sedro Woolley. The joint was in a diner car and kind of a fun atmosphere. We drove through just in time as there was a stream of cars that came in after us. I got a Seattle Dog, LeAnn got a burger and Jaylin got the chicken strips basket. The food was decent, but not awesome. We cave it 2.5/5 stars. Prolly the first and last time we would go there. They did let us come in and use their 3x3 foot bathroom, which was smaller than any airplane bathroom I have ever used, but likely more memorable than the food. 😆 Then we drove over to Tulip Town, which was still crazy with people even with reservations and the ‘social distancing’ guidelines in place. There were probably about 3,000 people milling around in the mucky fields as it was raining ag...

Seattle to Bahia Blanca

04/22/2021 Here is the latest Austin and #SeattleToBahiaBlanca update: Austin has been doing some amazing things at college! He applied for a council position on the BYU PBSA (Pre-Business Student Association) and was selected for that out of a large group of applicants! Then recently, he took the FLATS (Foreign Language Achievement Testing Services) for the Spanish language and passed all levels with A grades, thus earning 16 credits towards his degree. What a blessing it has been for him to learn a language and to see how it is benefiting him in his life. For his injury recovery, he is going to PT for his foot. It sounds like it still hurts quite a bit, but is getting stronger all of the time. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ While walking from #SeattleToBahiaBlanca the past few weeks, I have been able to get outdoors more often with nicer weather, and even spent a few days at Long Beach with Jaylin, Kelly, Ruth and my Parents! It was so nice to walk on the beach while it was...

Nosh N Walk: Week 7

04/17/2021 #MillersNoshNwalk week 7: We hit up the Longhorn BBQ this week for a tasty meal on a perfect spring day. I ordered the ‘Rustler’ with three meats and a sideboard. Got the ribs, chicken and German sausage. Nom Nom! LeAnn ordered the brisket sandwich and we had garlic mash and Mac n cheese on the side. It was yummilicious! We don’t go out to BBQ often, so this was a nice change of pace. We took the food to nearby Hill Tower park, where LeAnn was surprised with an Apple Watch! The special occasion being - that she makes every occasion special! We then took a walk around the park to enjoy the lovely weather.

NoshNWalk: Week 6

04/10/2021 #MillersNoshNwalk week 6: Guest starring the amazing, @jayy.millerr ! We got this girl back from college yesterday, so she joined us on today’s excursion. It just doesn’t get any better than this! We went to Frugals in Auburn, which, as the sign says, is ‘Voted Best in the Northwest’ , and they were fantastic burgers. They are drive through only, but speedy and friendly service. They even had real fry sauce! which is a rarity in the PNW. Though the fry size was like McDs happy-meal sized fries, they were still tasty. We all voted and gave it an 8/10. Took our food and drove over to Game Farm Park to Nosh. For the walking grand finale, we were pressed for time, so walked all of the way from the car to our doorstep when we got home! 😉

Nosh N Walk: Week 5

03/30/2021 #MillersNoshNwalk week 5: As Bubba Blue from Forrest Gump teaches, Shrimp is the fruit of the sea... =========== Bubba Blue: Anyway, like I was sayin', shrimp is the fruit of the sea. You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, saute it. Dey's uh, shrimp-kabobs, shrimp creole, shrimp gumbo. Pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried. There's pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich. That- that's about it. =========== Knowing that, we tried a fantastic Creole restaurant in Puyallup called Bourbon Street. It was a bit crowded and noisy inside, so we went for the outdoor seating area and had the whole place to ourselves! We ordered the Andouille/shrimp Jambalaya and then the Cajun Shrimp with garlic fries. Because you can never have enough shrimp. Both dishes were fantastic! The service was pretty good and we ended with some fluffy beignets! We gave thi...

Movie Marathons to Bahia for Austin

Image
03/29/2021 I have loved being Austin’s dad. His passion for life, his positive attitude, his determination to succeed and help others be happy are great attributes that I aspire to attain myself. I was lucky enough to be his soccer coach for ten years. To see him excel on the pitch and help his team to improve year over year was incredible to be a part of. He has always had an intense desire to improve himself and help his team to win through hard work and commitment to the love of the game. Austin, thanks for being a great coach for your coach. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ While walking from #SeattleToBahiaBlanca and doing the #TreadmillMovieMarathons over the past couple of weeks, I finished 16 Jackie Chan movies. 1,735 minutes = 3.64 marathons, approximately 95.4 miles I have always loved watching Jackie Chan. His skill with the art, his humor, his demeanor and interactions with others are so entertaining. This was one of my favorite moments from the movie ‘Shaolin’...

NoshNWalk: Week 4

Image
03/23/2021 #MillersNoshNwalk Week 4 We went to a pizza place in Renton called the Smoking Monkey. It was definitely a fun atmosphere, with eclectic art and an extensive menu with lots of great options. We got our orders in, and waited. And waited. And waited. 50 minutes later, our pizzas came out. We were a bit confounded as to why it took so long, since it was just the four of us and one other couple. On top of that, Autumn's Margherita pizza came out a bit cold, while LeAnn and my deluxe was super hot. Seems they should have brought theirs out as it was ready, instead of waiting for ours to finish. The pizza was pretty good, LeAnn didn’t love the crust, and we gave it a 5/10 based on the slow service and overall experience. For the walk portion of the outing, we headed up to Gene Coulon beach. We were hoping to see the sunset, as we had timed our night around trying to see that on Lake Washington, but the long wait for the pizza through that plan out the window. We had a nice wa...
