Nosh N Walk: Week 35, 36 and 37

Image
#millersnoshnwalk weeks 35, 36, 37 Need to catch up on the last few weeks! Three weeks ago, we had a special dinner to celebrate a birthday with our beloved mother, Janice Allen Thorne. She picked a relitively unknown, small-time Italian place called Olive Garden. 🙂 it was wonderful to have a nice dinner with LeAnn’s parents and her brother Matt joined us as well. The food was great and you gotta love the endless salad and breadsticks. Just make sure you save some room for the entree! We love this lady with all our hearts. She is kind and loving and so talented. We are blessed to be part of her family. Two weeks ago, we took a jaunt down to T-Town and hit up Blazing Onion. This one is in the mall parking lot, and it was crazy busy on a Friday night. Had to park out in the boonies to find a spot. So we got our walking in- to and from the car! We had about an hour before we were planning on seeing the new Bond movie down on Ruston, so had to hustle our order in. The burgers were great,...

Thorne Thanksgiving Turkey Trot in Couer D’Alene

Image
Pulled off our 11th annual Thorne Thanksgiving Turkey Trot in Couer D’Alene, ID. Had a great group of aunts, uncles and cousins join us. Went to a nearby golf course and looped around for about 3.5 miles. It was great to see Austin take off with his cousin Colin and run on that surgically repaired foot after recovering from that this past year. Had some beautiful, sweeping views of the Lake and the weather cooperated nicely. It was the perfect way to prepare ourselves for the amazing Thanksgiving feast.

私はそれで終わりです!

It’s been a long time since I’ve posted a #toddlingaroundtheworld update. I slowed down a bit these past couple of months as my health issues have reared their ugly heads with a vengeance. Some days I have just felt too awful to get up and go. The pain usually subsides in the early afternoon, so I have been able to get out then, but it has been rough and I’ve had to really push through the pain. Given that, I have hopped back on the Toddling train more diligently this past week and have goals set to finish out the full distance of walking around the world (16,710 miles) by the end of the year! It will have taken me 5 1/2 years to complete, and as of today, I have just 337 miles left. That is 8.4 miles per day. As they say in some of the countries I have walked to: 私はそれで終わりです!jsem z toho celý ¡Ya lo superé! (I’m all over it!) I didn’t really realize what I was getting myself into when I started that short, painful walk around the block 5 1/2 years ago, but has been amazing to see what y...

Nosh N Walk: Week 33 and 34

Image
#millersnoshnwalk weeks 33 and 34 We went with our good friends JoAnn Z. And Paul to a place in Fed Weezy called Shabu Shabuya. This is a popular type of cuisine in Japan, where they bring the meat to your table and you cook it yourself in a hot pot. We ordered a beef and a pork plate to share between the four of us. They were giant portions of meat, veggies, gyoza, tofu and more. It was fun to cook together and have some great conversations. LeAnn went to Idaho to visit our girls this weekend, so we had to squeeze in another Nosh on Tuesday before she left. We decided to head out towards Dash Point and try a Thai place on Hoyt. When we got there, found that they were doing take out only, so ended up next door at the Mediterranean Gyro Grill, where we ordered Chicken Souvlaki and a Gyro Plate. We also had some ‘Greek Fries’ which weren’t all that great, but enjoyed the other dishes. It’s been pretty rainy this past month, so haven’t walked outside too much. I have been hitting the tr...

Nosh N Walk: Week 31 and 32 (in Hawaii!)

Image
#millersnoshnwalk (IN HAWAII!) weeks 31 and 32 We had a blast last week in Hawaii. When we went out to eat, we would try to keep to local joints and cuisine. We went with LeAnns parents, and if you know her dad, you know that he is quite the rapscallion! So, every time we were out together, he was like: ‘There’s a McDonalds, let’s go!’ He got a whole lot of raspberries back from this guy. 😉 The first place we went was Bubbas Burgers in Poipu. There was a BIG line on that Saturday afternoon, and I usually prefer to go find a place with a shorter wait than to wait in a line for a half hour. LeAnn looked at me with those big, brown eyes and winked me into being patient. They did have burgers with Kauai raised beef, so we exercised patience and stayed on for their burgers. While we were waiting, I looked over next door and saw a place called ‘Savage Shrimp’, so I popped over there and got a basket of garlic shrimp to Nosh on while we were waiting in line. Though they weren’t peeled, they...

Nosh N Walk: Week 30

Image
#millersnoshnwalk week 30 Last Saturday, we made a quick trip out to a joint called Flame Burgers in Fed Weezie. Bacon cheeseburgers and crinkle fries, and though we are not in Utah anymore, they even had Fry Sauce! It was some good grub! Definitely would go back to this one. Afterwards, as we weren’t too far from the Hylebos Wetlands, headed over there for a nice walk on the boardwalk in the middle of the wetlands. This is one of my favorite places to walk. It is a bit of paradise in the suburbs, with a clear creek and native growth forest all surrounding. So peaceful and beautiful. So happy to share this time with LeAnn.
