This is why I walk - Day 89

This is why I walk. I walk to let my son know I will always be with him and always be thinking of him while he is serving as a missionary in Argentina. I walk to show him that we can accomplish great things when we set incredible goals and are determined to meet them. This is something that I need to dedicate myself to do every. single. day. If I miss a day, that is a huge amount of miles that will need to be made up to get back on track. I told my daughter Autumn this when she was in the Czech Republic and I was walking there, and I have told Austin the same thing: I see this virtual mission as having many similarities to the missions they have and are serving on - you have to strive each day to do your best and never give up. You have to work hard even when you might not want to. You will have many obstacles to overcome and need to persevere and endure to the end. When you do this, how great will be your joy.
Austin, I will meet you there in person, after walking there virtually, when you finish your mission in June of 2021.

Nosh N Walk: Week 49

#millersnoshnwalk week 49: We had the pleasure of hanging out with the Scurvy Dogs Book Club on the last day of the month. We had some trouble getting the gang together this month, but squeaked by on 2/28 to keep our streak alive! Going into our 11th year of the book club, we have met every month and have now read 129 books. This past month we read The Lincoln Highway, by Amor Towles, it was a good read. We met up at BBQ Pete’s and had some fantastic BBQ and invited the Scurvy Wives. I had a prime rib dip sandwich and LeAnn had the ‘Sandwich with No Name’ - sliced brisket, cheese and crispy onion straws. They even had free soft serve ice cream cones! So good.

Missionary Marathons: Sister Dummer

While on my Journey to complete walking 24,901 miles of #ToddlingAroundTheEquator, I am focusing these walks on the amazing missionaries that I know that are serving around the world. I am dedicating walking a marathon of miles for these missionaries and tag them as #missionarymarathons. I am so grateful to these faithful missionaries for dedicating their lives to teaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ! This week I have walked 26.2 miles for Sister Dummer, who is serving in our Ward. We have had the privilege of having her over to our house for lessons and for dinner. It has been great to get to know her and see her beautiful smile and the love she has for the Gospel. She has been in the mission now for almost a month, and I can tell she is going to help change so many lives for the better as a missionary! I am so grateful to these faithful missionaries for dedicating their lives to teaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ! These past few weeks I have walked 150.4 miles for Elder Brendan Murphy, who is my nephew. (Gotta go a few extra marathons for my family!) I decided to walk the distance between the first two Cities he has served in in Finland, Turku and Lahti. Brendan is a special man, with a beautiful smile. He is intelligent, kind and thoughtful.
