Day 354 - 100 miles and a Wedding
6/6/2020

As I have thought about Autumn and my new son-in-law, Clay, getting married today, so many emotions and memories have flowed through my heart as I recall the joy of raising Autumn up, and the happiness she has brought into LeAnn and my lives. We have been blessed to have her back home from college during the Corona shutdown these past few months. She made us smile every day, which is a tremendous gift during these tenuous times. To see Autumn and Clay grow their bond even stronger while they have been apart over this time, has been a true testament of their true love.
One of my favorite songs growing up was ‘Sunrise, Sunset’ from Fiddler on the Roof’
The lyrics from this song perfectly sum up the sentiments of this time as we give her to Clay, who we have come to love, and know that he will honor her and love her forever.
“Is this the little girl I carried,
Is this the little boy at play?
I don't remember growing older,
When did they?
When did she get to be a beauty,
When did he grow to be so tall?
Wasn't it yesterday when they were small?
Sunrise, sunset,
Swiftly flow the days.
Seedlings turn overnight to sunflowers,
Blossoming even as we gaze.
Sunrise, sunset,
Swiftly fly the years,
One season following another,
Laiden with happiness and tears.
What words of wisdom can I give them,
How can I help to ease their way?
Now they must learn from one another,
Day by day.
They look so natural together.
Just like two newlyweds should be.”
I also had a big week on the walking front. Hit the 100mile mark in one week!
