#ToddlingAroundDisneyWorld – Day 3 and 4
Went to Epcot today and were able to slow down a bit. It was more relaxing than the crazy chaos of the other parks and the crowds were much less and you could walk around without bumping into other people. We were able to go with LeAnns parents and older sister Leslee. It was neat to be able to see all of the different countries/cultures that were represented there. My favorite? Japan, of course! The shop was neat to see all of the Japanesey items – katana, artwork, kokeshi, and so on. Then they had a cool performance with Taiko drummers. Natsukashii!
We had a nice lunch under a shady tree and it was hard to believe that it is January, when the temperature is a perfect 70-something degrees. We continued walking around the lake and went over the Soarin around the World. It was cool to fly over Africa, the Great Wall of China and the Eiffel tower. I told LeAnn that now we wont have to go to Paris, since we have already been there! 😉 After that, we went to Spaceship Earth, which I didn’t even realize there was an actual ride inside of the Epcot Sphere until we got here! It was fun to be with family and relax a bit and enjoy each other.
To end the day, we hopped on the Skyliner gondola and headed back to the Hollywood Studios to see Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge at night. I didn’t realize it could get more awesomer, but it did. It was cool to see the place at night. We went back through some of the shops and then were able to make it into the Rise of the Resistance ride: The coolest, most immersive, interactive and fun ride I have ever been on. This was definitely one of the highlights of the park. So glad we could make it in, as the wait was under an hour that evening as opposed to the three hour wait the day before.
We then took the gondola back to Epcot and got there just in time to see an amazing fireworks show on the lake with the Spaceship Earth in the backdrop. It was stunning.
On day 4, we slowed down even more. (Which we needed after walking around 30 miles these past few days) We went to watch LeAnn’s brother, David finish the Disney Marathon. He had signed up to celebrate his 50th birthday by doing the ‘Dopey Challenge’ – the 5K, 10K, Half marathon and Marathon in 4 days. It was quite impressive. The whole family was there to cheer him on at the finish line. Then back at the condos, we had a birthday celebration together. It was a nice way to spend a Sunday with family.
