Day 105 - Milton

Image
Needed to run to the bank, so I walked there instead. I waked past a giant chestnut tree with all of the bits and husks lying on the ground. We had a big tree like that when I was in high school and it left tons of the nuts on The ground. We would play games of trying to get as many as we could in a barrel or just throwing them at our brothers with the spiky husks on them. Good times.  I take a route through Milton and down around Surprise Lake and then over to Key Bank. It was just over 5 miles. Then another 5 miles this evening as I got out abit earlier and then walked over through the Stucki’s and Leonard’s neighborhoods.

Day 104 - Des Moines Marina

Image
I needed to take the Honda in for an oil change, so Jaylin went with LeAnn to TJHS and then Maria picked her up from there to head up to Highline College. While waiting for the oil change I got in a couple of miles around Meridian way in Edgewood.  Jaylins classes end at noon, so I went up around 10:30 toget a walk in at the Marina and Des Moines Creek trail. Turned out that Austin called for our video chat while I was walking, so had a nice visit with him.  I got in about 6 miles and then picked Jaylin up. We stopped by Dicks to grab a hamburger and then stopped by the mall to drop some Amazon returns off at Kohl’s.  In the evening I walked another 3 miles around Enchanted Meadows. 12.1 for the day.

Day 103 - My achey breaky knees

Image
Today was cold! I did go a bit early to my Sunday morning meetings to walk around Lake Kilarney before bishopric meeting. I will need to start bundling up for those morning walks. Crazy since summer just ended last week. After enjoying the day of rest for a while and the Seahawks game, I went out for the Trout Lake loop. My knees were not happy. They really ache when it is cold or rainy outside. I limped along for a while, but as I kept pushing through, realized later on that I wasnt even thinking about it anymore. The old saying of 'walk it off' is true! I just kept walking and it stopped bothering me anymore a mile or so in. It was still cold, but the sun came peeking out a few times, so that helped with the chill. Total miles for the day landed at 6.6. Not bad for a Sunday.

Day 102 - ‘Run’ The Year 2019 complete!

Image
I walk just about as fast as I run, so this is a wash. :) Completed the ‘Run The Year’ goal today and ran the numbers through a calculator to find the average miles I have walked per day this year is 7.45. This is the third year in a row I have completed the Run The Year Program, so they sent me a special medal with the ‘3 years’ spinner in it.  Since starting the #walktobahiablanca when Austin left on his mission on 6/18, I have averaged right at 10 miles per day. Goes to show what a difference a concrete goal with deadlines can do for you. Another 2.5 miles a day has made a big difference. It’s another 40 minutes or so of walking each day, but I love being out there in this beautiful world and seeing the glories of nature and having some great interactions with the people that I meet along the way.  Hit another milestone in the #seattletobahiablanca journey, as I passed by the 1,000 miles complete mark towards Argentina. This has actually ‘virtually’ put me just ri...

Day 101 - Weyerhaeuser

Image
Had Jaylin drop me off at Weyerhaeuser and then walked over to Celebration Park and then the BPA trail up to 320th. LeAnn picked me up there on her way from work to go to her parents house. We went to be witnesses for the signing of their living will. Then went over to Dash Point State park and around the lake by their house. Hit the ten miles for the day.

Day 100 - Pioneer Square

Image
Went downtown for a Tech conference. Walked the neighborhood where I had worked a couple of previous jobs. I was at Photoworks on Columbia in 2006 andthen atStarbucks on King street in 2008 prior to moving down to SODO and the SSC. So cool to see the waterfront now with the Viaduct down.

Day 99 - Chopped Leaf

Image
Went to pick up LeAnns parents from the airport earlythis morning. We had their car that I picked them up in and then when I drove back, I got off on 348th and then let myself out in the Taco Bell parking lot. Then they could drive themselves back the rest of the way from there without having to take me back to our house. From there, I planned on walking home since I needed to get my morning route done. Walked over to the Crossings and stopped by Chopped Leaf to take a picture to send to the Dueck’s, who are in our ward andown the restaurant. I took a sad-faced selfie and sent the Dueck’s a text saying ‘so sad to find out that yourplace wasn’t open for breakfast!’ :) I knew this of course, but thought it would be funny to send them a shotof that. They enjoyed it too.  It was about 5 miles back home, so had a good walk. Then finished a few more miles around the neighborhood in the evening.
