Nosh N Walk: Week 45

Image
#millersnoshnwalk week 45 We have some new neighbors that moved in across the street from us this past summer. We found out that they are the owners of a restaurant in FW called EngiMono Ramen and Dim Sum. (engimono means good luck charm in Japanese) We went to check this out last week. Realizing that they would have Japanese (ramen), and Chinese (dim sum) dishes, we previewed the menu ahead of time. While staying away from Chicken Feet, we ended up trying a Beef Donburi bowl and Chicken Katsu curry, along with gyoza and some pork dumplings. The food was pretty good. The donburi didn’t have egg in it, so wasn’t totally authentic, but overall, it was tasty. They even had the Ramune drink with a marble in the bottle, so that was a nice bit of nostalgia from Japan. For our ‘walk’, we went over to Marshalls and did a bit of shopping. 😉

Missionary Marathon: Sister Julien and Sister Ford

Image
One of the new goals that I have as I move forward with my walking Journey to complete walking 24,901 miles of #ToddlingAroundTheEquator, is to focus on the amazing missionaries that I know that are serving around the world. I will dedicate walking a marathon of miles for these missionaries and will tag them as #missionarymarathons. The past two weeks I have walked two marathons for two fantastic Sister Missionaries who have been serving in our Jovita Creek Ward - Sister Abigail Ford and Sister Madison Julien. They are wonderful women of God and so friendly and faithful in their service. We have had them for dinner a number of times and love spending time with them. Here are their introductions so you can get to know more about them and why they are so special: ======== Sister Madison Julien from Mesquite NV She Loves reading, running and Sushi! What she loves about her family and being a missionary: “My family is amazing, I have a deaf momma who is the most inspirational person I k...

Walking the Year, Toddling the Equator and Missionary Marathons!

Image
After a bit of a respite since completing #ToddlingAroundTheWorld at the end of last year, I am ready to move on to my next fitness/walking challenge! Though it has been nice and relaxing to pull back off of the gas these past few weeks, after 5 1/2 years of intense walking, I have often felt the pull to get up and get out and walk. It has become muscle-memory, and I have been keeping it up on a smaller scale, still walking about 5 1/2 miles a day. Which ties in perfectly to my new goal of continuing to #WalkTheYear each year. This was a challenge I had taken on over the past five years, which is called Run The Year (though obviously I walk it). This will be my sixth year in a row. You can see from the picture of Run the Year swag that just arrived: they have a cool medal, that you can add a magnetic piece to the medal after finishing portions of the challenge - 500, 1000, 1500 and 2022 miles. The. They also sent me the 6 year medallion. The shirt, I will put away until I have complet...

Nosh N Walk: Week 44

Image
#millersnoshnwalk week 44: My sister Kelly, had rented out a movie theater for the stylists that work at her business, Salons by JC Seattle, Corydon to watch the new Spider-Man movie, and invited us! So, last night, we drove up to Seattle for dinner and a movie. It’s nice to see that the city is coming back to life a bit. We got to Pacific Place and headed up to the 4th floor where the restaurants are. Though we love Din Tai Fung, we decided to go to Pike Place Chowder thinking it might not be as filling and save us some room for popcorn and snacks at the movie. We got the small chowder and split a Fish and Chips. It was nom nom! Their chowder is always excellent. For our walk, we took laps around Pacific Place levels and over into Nordstrom. We remembered all of the different times we had been there with our kids to see the ‘snow’ falling inside during Christmas time, and some of the other stores that have cycled in and out - Barnes and Noble, Restoration Hardware, GameStop to name a...

Toddling Around Disney World: Day 5

Image
Celebrating completion of #ToddlingAroundTheWorld by #ToddlingAroundDisneyWorld – Day 5 Disney’s Animal Kingdom Honestly, before getting here, I thought this one would be more of a Safari-type if park. So I was quite amazed getting in and seeing the beauty of this park. The landscaping and foliage was stunning. Then walking up to see the Tree of Life, we were quite stunned with the detail and intricacies of the tree. Wow. From there, we beelined over to Avatar Flight of Passage. The setting was so stunning. Welcome to Pandora. We were excited to go on this one, even though it showed an 85 minute wait by the time we got there. There was plenty to look at while waiting, but we had no idea what we were in for. About an hour in to the line, they announce: ‘sorry to say, but we are not operating at full capacity. Unfortunately, wait times ‘may’ be longer than expected. ‘ freak. 3 hours later. yes, three hours after getting in line, we finally got on the ride. I was saying that we could ha...

Toddling Around Disney World: Day 3 and 4

Image
Celebrating completion of #ToddlingAroundTheWorld by #ToddlingAroundDisneyWorld – Day 3 and 4 Went to Epcot today and were able to slow down a bit. It was more relaxing than the crazy chaos of the other parks and the crowds were much less and you could walk around without bumping into other people. We were able to go with LeAnns parents and older sister Leslee. It was neat to be able to see all of the different countries/cultures that were represented there. My favorite? Japan, of course! The shop was neat to see all of the Japanesey items – katana, artwork, kokeshi, and so on. Then they had a cool performance with Taiko drummers. Natsukashii! We had a nice lunch under a shady tree and it was hard to believe that it is January, when the temperature is a perfect 70-something degrees. We continued walking around the lake and went over the Soarin around the World. It was cool to fly over Africa, the Great Wall of China and the Eiffel tower. I told LeAnn that now we wont have to go to ...

Toddling Around Disney World: Day 2

Image
#ToddlingAroundDisneyWorld Day 2 All of my wildest dreams just came true at Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge today. With LeAnn, I was able to roar at Chewbacca, ride on the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, and then hit Star Tours with C3PO (a 3D adventure, which actually made me a bit nauseous) Then for the highlight of the day, build my own R-Series robot at the Droid Depot. We tried both Blue AND Green milk (berry and citrus flavored. The consensus was that the Blue was better) Had some Galactic grub at the Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo Restaurant - Fried Endorian Chicken Tip Yip. This place was awesome, I had to pinch myself while walking up to the AT-AT and seeing the full-scale Millennium Falcon. I seriously had goose bumps at times. 🙂 We then went to the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular, went through Toy Story Land and hopped over to Magic Kingdom to finish off the day. We waited for 45 minutes for the Thunder Mountain ride, always and classic, and grabbed a hot dog for dinner. At...
