Caminar a Bahia - Week 2
LeAnn and I were down in Los Cabos, Mexico celebrating our 25th anniversary. While traveling, it is often more challenging to hit the daily mileage goal as there are flights and other travel time that dont allow for walking as much. It was fantastic to spend the week with LeAnn in the Cabos. I had no idea that the Baja Peninsula was that bleak and desert-y. I figured it would be more tropical as we were closer to the equator. The beaches were beautiful, as was Flora Farms, in San Jose Del Cabo area. We spent the day there on Wednesday and enjoyed a delicious lunch in that beautiful oasis in the desert.
It was nice walking on the beaches, which I did daily. I initially tried to walk in my walking shoes, but the sand of course started finding its way in and made that uncomfortable soon after starting. Ended up taking off the shoes and socks and going barefoot. I think the beach walking took about twice as long as my normal pace, so though I didnt get as many miles in, it was soothing and peaceful to walk along those beaches in Cabo. Where we were staying in San Jose Del Cabo, it was resorts everywhere along the beach and not really any places to swim, so the beaches werent crowded at all. There were a couple of places where I saw surfers. It was fun being down there while it was Austin's second week in the CCM (Mexico MTC). On Wednesday, 7/3/2019, he called on Google Hangouts while I was out walking the beach that morning. I was grateful that my phone had a signal there. It was great to see him and think that he was just across the Sea of Cortez over in Mexico City. Crazy that we were in the same country at the same time. He is loving life at the CCM and learning and growing so much.
Through week two of the #walktoBahia , I am getting closer to the 10 mile a day goal and have logged almost 140 miles. #toddlingaroundtheworld total miles is at 8,820
