Nosh N Walk: Week 35, 36 and 37

Image
#millersnoshnwalk weeks 35, 36, 37 Need to catch up on the last few weeks! Three weeks ago, we had a special dinner to celebrate a birthday with our beloved mother, Janice Allen Thorne. She picked a relitively unknown, small-time Italian place called Olive Garden. πŸ™‚ it was wonderful to have a nice dinner with LeAnn’s parents and her brother Matt joined us as well. The food was great and you gotta love the endless salad and breadsticks. Just make sure you save some room for the entree! We love this lady with all our hearts. She is kind and loving and so talented. We are blessed to be part of her family. Two weeks ago, we took a jaunt down to T-Town and hit up Blazing Onion. This one is in the mall parking lot, and it was crazy busy on a Friday night. Had to park out in the boonies to find a spot. So we got our walking in- to and from the car! We had about an hour before we were planning on seeing the new Bond movie down on Ruston, so had to hustle our order in. The burgers were great,...

Thorne Thanksgiving Turkey Trot in Couer D’Alene

Image
Pulled off our 11th annual Thorne Thanksgiving Turkey Trot in Couer D’Alene, ID. Had a great group of aunts, uncles and cousins join us. Went to a nearby golf course and looped around for about 3.5 miles. It was great to see Austin take off with his cousin Colin and run on that surgically repaired foot after recovering from that this past year. Had some beautiful, sweeping views of the Lake and the weather cooperated nicely. It was the perfect way to prepare ourselves for the amazing Thanksgiving feast.

It’s been a long time since I’ve posted a #toddlingaroundtheworld update. I slowed down a bit these past couple of months as my health issues have reared their ugly heads with a vengeance. Some days I have just felt too awful to get up and go. The pain usually subsides in the early afternoon, so I have been able to get out then, but it has been rough and I’ve had to really push through the pain. Given that, I have hopped back on the Toddling train more diligently this past week and have goals set to finish out the full distance of walking around the world (16,710 miles) by the end of the year! It will have taken me 5 1/2 years to complete, and as of today, I have just 337 miles left. That is 8.4 miles per day. As they say in some of the countries I have walked to: η§γ―γγ‚Œγ§η΅‚γ‚γ‚Šγ§γ™!jsem z toho celΓ½ ¡Ya lo superΓ©! (I’m all over it!) I didn’t really realize what I was getting myself into when I started that short, painful walk around the block 5 1/2 years ago, but has been amazing to see what y...

Nosh N Walk: Week 33 and 34

Image
#millersnoshnwalk weeks 33 and 34 We went with our good friends JoAnn Z. And Paul to a place in Fed Weezy called Shabu Shabuya. This is a popular type of cuisine in Japan, where they bring the meat to your table and you cook it yourself in a hot pot. We ordered a beef and a pork plate to share between the four of us. They were giant portions of meat, veggies, gyoza, tofu and more. It was fun to cook together and have some great conversations. LeAnn went to Idaho to visit our girls this weekend, so we had to squeeze in another Nosh on Tuesday before she left. We decided to head out towards Dash Point and try a Thai place on Hoyt. When we got there, found that they were doing take out only, so ended up next door at the Mediterranean Gyro Grill, where we ordered Chicken Souvlaki and a Gyro Plate. We also had some ‘Greek Fries’ which weren’t all that great, but enjoyed the other dishes. It’s been pretty rainy this past month, so haven’t walked outside too much. I have been hitting the tr...
