Missionary Marathons: Elder Murphy

Image
While on my Journey to complete walking 24,901 miles of #ToddlingAroundTheEquator, I am focusing these walks on the amazing missionaries that I know that are serving around the world. I am dedicating walking a marathon of miles for these missionaries and tag them as #missionarymarathons. I am so grateful to these faithful missionaries for dedicating their lives to teaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ! These past few weeks I have walked 150.4 miles for Elder Brendan Murphy, who is my nephew. (Gotta go a few extra marathons for my family!) I decided to walk the distance between the first two Cities he has served in in Finland, Turku and Lahti. Brendan is a special man, with a beautiful smile. He is intelligent, kind and thoughtful. It has been a privilege to watch him grow up and become such a man who is now serving the Lord with all his heart, might, mind and strength. It is an honor to be his uncle. Here is a bit more about Elder Murphy, so you can get to know more about him and why h...

Nosh N Walk: Week 48

#millersnoshnwalk week 48 Rolling our weekend over to Presidents Day, we started the morning with another walk along the cliffy coast until a squall rolled in, and we had to hustle home to avoid getting soaked. We really did have exceptional weather this weekend and loved our time down here. We the headed home from Depoe Bay, and drove up the coast to Lincoln City. One of the places we have always enjoyed eating at is Pig’N Pancake, so we stopped there for brunch. LeAnn had French toast with eggs and bacon, and I had chicken fried steak. Exchanged the hash browns for veggies, as I had had a potatoe overload over the weekend with different fries and such. It was delicious, and kept us satiated for the 4 1/2 hour drive home.

I am dedicating walking a marathon of miles for these missionaries and tag them as #missionarymarathons. This past week I have walked 26.2 miles for Elder James Dueck, who is currently serving in the Mexico, Mexico City South East Mission. I came to know James as we moved into his Ward about four years ago. He was in the Teachers quorum than, and I had been called as the Teachers Quorum Advisor. James has a great and fun personality. He is always smiling and so kind to all he interacted with. He is knowledgeable and faithful in the Gospel and I know that he is an incredible Missionary as he strives to help bring others into Christ. Here is a bit more about Elder Dueck, so you can get to know more about him and why he is so special: ======== James Ryan Dueck is from Seattle Washington. He likes to play spo...

Nosh N Walk: Week 47

#millersnoshnwalk week 47 This week is our annual trip down to Depoe Bay. One of our favorite places on earth! The waves crashing against the cliff right beneath the condos is a majestic thing to behold! LeAnn and I took a walk down around the Marina and up into the woods, before finishing our walk on the waterfront. We made a stop for lunch at a place called the ‘Sea Hag’ and grabbed some chowder, a salad and split a BLT. The food was good and fresh and yummy!

Missionary Marathon: Sister Keeney

One of the goals that I have as I move forward with my walking Journey to complete walking 24,901 miles of #ToddlingAroundTheEquator, is to focus on the amazing missionaries that I know that are serving around the world. I will dedicate walking a marathon of miles for these missionaries and will tag them as #missionarymarathons. This past week I have walked 26.2 miles for Sister Kennedie Keeney, who is currently serving in the Mesa Arizona Mission while waiting to go to Kobe Japan. I have seen Kennedie grow up as she was on the same soccer team as Jaylin when they were younger. She was a formidable player and scored so many goals for their team. She sure was fun to watch! I am excited for Kennedie to go to Japan as I know how wonderful the country and people there are! I am grateful for the work she is doing in Arizona, and know that wherever she is, she is doing the work that God wants her to do. Here is a bit more about Sister Keeney, so you can get to know more about her and why...

Nosh N Walk: Week 46

#millersnoshnwalk week 46 After a few weeks hiatus, (I have been in Idaho and Utah visiting my kids and family) we have resumed our noshing adventures! LeAnn picked me up at the airport on Saturday and we went to a nearby place called Sharps Roasthouse. It was nom nom nom! Yep, that’s three out of three noms! They make their own sourdough pasta (not sure I have ever heard of it, let alone tried it before), so had to try that. I had the Smoked Brisket Mac and Cheese. The pasta was rich and creamy and the cheese was very cheddars and rich. Good stuff. LeAnn had a burger called ‘Billionaires Bacon and Haas Avocado’ just remembering that one is making me drool right now. Take a look at the pic to imagine it’s yumminess. It was so nice to be back with LeAnn again. That was even more fulfilling than the meal - and the meal was incredible!
