Day 159 - one of the worst days ever

I woke up around one a.m. on this Sunday morning. I felt a bit sick to my stomach. Went to the bathroom and then tried to go back to sleep. Was totally uncomfortable for about another half hour and felt like I needed to go back to the bathroom. Once I got in there, I still was unable to go, but felt sick like I needed to throw up. Wasnt able to throw up or go to the bathroom. My stomach area started cramping and hurting so horribly, I ended up getting on the ground and rolling over in Fetal position. It was some of the worst pain I have ever been in, and I have been in a lot of pain - Dislocated shoulders, Ruptured ACLs, dislocated knee, the rectopexy... All of those have been horrible and extremely painful in their own ways. This was at the top of the list. I couldnt get it to stop and was moaning in pain. I thought it might subside, and didnt want to wake LeAnn or Jaylin, so I crawled into the walk-in closet and was rolling on the ground for a a couple of hours while trying not to make too much noise and praying for it to stop. When it didnt, I finally hobbled out to LeAnn and asked her if she could take me to the hospital. She kindly got ready quickly and helped me out into the car. I couldnt sit upright, so I layed down in the back seat and continued to pray that we would get there quickly. We finally pulled into the emergency at St. Francis and there was no place to park. I didnt think I was going to make it to the emergency room. I would have gladly taken some help or a wheelchair at that point. Then, just trying to hobble across the road from the emergency room, cars kept coming and we couldnt cross. Meanwhile, I am still groaning in pain and LeAnn is helping support me so I can walk. At this point, I still have no idea what could possibly be wrong with me. We finally get in and LeAnn checks me in. It takes about 15 minutes before we can see someone. A nurse takes some blood and asks what my symptoms are. When I told her of the pain in my abdomen, she tells me it could possibly be a Urinary Tract Infection. I was like, OK, can I have some drugs please!! Then they took my blood to get analyzed and told me I would need to wait for the doctor. I still felt like I had to go number 1, so I tried for about 5 minutes, but nothing would work. I was still in the midst of it being so horribly painful, I couldnt sit down or stand up. I told LeAnn I was going to just lay there on the floor of the Emergency Room entry. She told me not to, so I tried to sit in a chair. That did not help anything, and I was hurting so bad that tears were coming to my eyes. At that time, I remember pretty much yelling out 'I NEED A BED!!' I think the people there started getting the point that I was in extreme pain, so after about 45 minutes in the waiting area, they finally went and got me a bed. I guess the squeaky wheel gets the grease! When I finally got into a room and they finally gave me some medication, I still was feeling pretty awful. I told them the pain had gone from a 15 to an 8 and was still feeling like I would throw up. They kindly gave me a barf bag, and then gave me another dose of the barbiturates. I told LeAnn later they had to give me enough to take down a bear. I finally started feeling somewhat OK, though I was still at a 3-4 pain-wise. The doctor came in and told me I would need to go get a CAT scan. They rolled me out and took those scans to find out what was going on in there. I came back to the room and the drugs were doing their work. I ended up using the barf bag as a sock puppet and trying to do a puppet show for LeAnn - just like Mr. Rogers! She was not as amused as I was. *shrugs* The doctor finally came back with the results: A kidney stone. And not a terribly large one at that. I think they were surprised that it had moved as far down my tract to the Uninary. That it hadnt hurt so bad all the way along its journey from the kidney was a shock. LeAnn and I surmised, that since I am used to having chronic pain in my bowels since 2015 when I had the rectopexy, that I may have just endured some of the other problems it may have caused while working its way down and out. I finally was released at around 10 a.m. - so about 9 hours of this horrible ordeal. They got me some medication that was supposed to help with the swelling and help me release the stone. I took that, and was actually feeling pretty decent when we got home. I did finally go the bathroom and went quite a bit. I guess it may have finally passed as I was able to relax and then slept for a few hours. Later that day, it felt like nothing had happened and it was all just a bad dream. I wish it HAD been a bad dream. This experience resulted in the lowest mileage day of the #walktobahiablanca - 1.4 miles
