Day 263 - Luz

Today was a very special day. Today, March 7, 2020 was the day that Luz was baptized. Austin has been working with this beautiful 12 year old girl from Bahia Blanca.

Austin has had the great privilege of becoming friends with Gustavo and Paola and their family since arriving in their city 4 months ago. Gustavo has been a special friend and has sent me a number of videos and pictures of Austin with their family and has connected with me over Whats App. I love hearing from Gustavo as he has made some special memories with Austin that become all the more special as we can see him in his element working as a missionary.

Gustavo has sent me videos of Austin helping to build a brick wall at their home and making empanadas with their family. This weekend we were able to see some pictures of Austin and Luz after the baptism. Austin told us how special the baptism was for Luz. Here is what he wrote about it:
I had the opportunity to baptize Luz this week! I have been teaching this family for over 4 months now, and I am so happy that Luz has made the decision to follow Christ in her life. Her baptismal service was so special. She truly is a luz (light) to her family 🙂 After the baptism, Luz told me that she looks to me as her older brother. She now calls me big brother haha. She drew a picture of her family with a heart around it and put me in it! I feel so very blessed to have the opportunity to have these special connections with the people I meet here. I know that I will remember these experiences for the rest of my life and that I am making life long friends.
I am so happy for Luz and her choice to be baptized. She will continue to be a shining example of Jesus Christ and the happiness that people can find through following His perfect example.
