Day 270 - No Aquarium

Another #ThanksCoronaVirus day...Aquarium and zoo shut down. Its been almost a year now since I started volunteering at the Zoo and Aquarium. It has been a nice part of my routine to go and work at the aquarium on Saturday mornings. We got the notification that only essential staff would be needed as the Zoo was shutting down to help prevent the spread of Corona Virus. I will miss hanging out with the sharks, but even moreso, hanging out with the people there. They are what makes volunteering there so special. I often find that people who have a true love for animals are some of the most genuine and kind people that you will ever know. The Zoo and Aquarium will be shut down until the end of the month. Sad.

So on this Saturday, stayed closer to home and walked Jovita trail. Then later in the afternoon, walked up to Trout Lake with LeAnn. It was a bit chilly, but so nice to walk together with my beautiful and amazing wife.

#millersnoshnwalk week 49: We had the pleasure of hanging out with the Scurvy Dogs Book Club on the last day of the month. We had some trouble getting the gang together this month, but squeaked by on 2/28 to keep our streak alive! Going into our 11th year of the book club, we have met every month and have now read 129 books. This past month we read The Lincoln Highway, by Amor Towles, it was a good read. We met up at BBQ Pete’s and had some fantastic BBQ and invited the Scurvy Wives. I had a prime rib dip sandwich and LeAnn had the ‘Sandwich with No Name’ - sliced brisket, cheese and crispy onion straws. They even had free soft serve ice cream cones! So good.

Missionary Marathons: Sister Dummer

While on my Journey to complete walking 24,901 miles of #ToddlingAroundTheEquator, I am focusing these walks on the amazing missionaries that I know that are serving around the world. I am dedicating walking a marathon of miles for these missionaries and tag them as #missionarymarathons. I am so grateful to these faithful missionaries for dedicating their lives to teaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ! This week I have walked 26.2 miles for Sister Dummer, who is serving in our Ward. We have had the privilege of having her over to our house for lessons and for dinner. It has been great to get to know her and see her beautiful smile and the love she has for the Gospel. She has been in the mission now for almost a month, and I can tell she is going to help change so many lives for the better as a missionary! These past few weeks I have walked 150.4 miles for Elder Brendan Murphy, who is my nephew. (Gotta go a few extra marathons for my family!) I decided to walk the distance between the first two Cities he has served in in Finland, Turku and Lahti. Brendan is a special man, with a beautiful smile. He is intelligent, kind and thoughtful.
