Day 298 - Scurvy Dogs go Virtual

Went with LeAnn to pick up masks that grandma had made for us. Then we went to Walgreens to find some Easter goodies. While wearing the masks in the store, had a crazy sneeze sneak up on me. Note to self, it is not fun to sneeze into a mask. Went with LeAnn down to Hylebos wetland trail for a walk. Just saw a couple of other families out there. Though we are allowed to walk outside during the pandemic, seems most people are staying home. Got home just in time to get the Netflix Party setup for our Scurvy Dogs meeting. This was historic in that it was our first virtual meeting. We had Jason, Tim, Dennis, and for a couple of minutes, Mike on there. This app allows you to watch a Netflix show with your friends while leaving a chat window up on the screen so you can interact through chat. The book we read last month was ' Indianapolis: The True Story of the Worst Sea Disaster in U.S. Naval History and the Fifty-Year Fight to Exonerate an Innocent Man' Then we watched "USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage" on Netflix together. It was a pretty good representation of the book and a decent enough movie.

Nosh N Walk: Week 49

#millersnoshnwalk week 49: We had the pleasure of hanging out with the Scurvy Dogs Book Club on the last day of the month. We had some trouble getting the gang together this month, but squeaked by on 2/28 to keep our streak alive! Going into our 11th year of the book club, we have met every month and have now read 129 books. This past month we read The Lincoln Highway, by Amor Towles, it was a good read. We met up at BBQ Pete’s and had some fantastic BBQ and invited the Scurvy Wives. I had a prime rib dip sandwich and LeAnn had the ‘Sandwich with No Name’ - sliced brisket, cheese and crispy onion straws. They even had free soft serve ice cream cones! So good.

Missionary Marathons: Sister Dummer

While on my Journey to complete walking 24,901 miles of #ToddlingAroundTheEquator, I am focusing these walks on the amazing missionaries that I know that are serving around the world. I am dedicating walking a marathon of miles for these missionaries and tag them as #missionarymarathons. I am so grateful to these faithful missionaries for dedicating their lives to teaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ! This week I have walked 26.2 miles for Sister Dummer, who is serving in our Ward. We have had the privilege of having her over to our house for lessons and for dinner. It has been great to get to know her and see her beautiful smile and the love she has for the Gospel. She has been in the mission now for almost a month, and I can tell she is going to help change so many lives for the better as a missionary! These past few weeks I have walked 150.4 miles for Elder Brendan Murphy, who is my nephew. (Gotta go a few extra marathons for my family!) I decided to walk the distance between the first two Cities he has served in in Finland, Turku and Lahti. Brendan is a special man, with a beautiful smile. He is intelligent, kind and thoughtful.
