Day 1,584 - ToddlingAroundTheWorld Checkin

5,003 MILES COMPLETE ON THE #WALKTOBAHIABLANCA! Since beginning my virtual walking journey when Autumn left on her mission to the Czech Republic on July, 6, 2016, and continuing through Austin's Missions in Argentina and Las Vegas, I have now walked 13,679 miles! Here is the rollup of the statistics to this point: 1,584 days 13,679 miles (22,014 kilometers) 8.63 miles per day 28,890,000 steps (give or take a few thousand...) Going from West to East, 13,679 miles from Seattle, Washington, across the United State and the Atlantic Ocean, through Europe, China, Japan and the Pacific Ocean. I am now somewhere in the Bering Sea. I now have 3,031 miles to finish walking all of the way around the world. Since starting the Seattle to Bahia Blanca virtual walk when Austin left for his mission on June 18, 2019, I have walked 5,003 miles, which is the distance from Seattle to almost parallel with La Paz, Bolivia. I now have 2,017 miles to finish walking to Bahia Blanca. Special thanks to my loving wife, LeAnn, for supporting my goals and helping me to reach them. She often goes out walking with me, which is great, as we get to visit and enjoy each other out in the beauty of nature. Thanks to each of my children, Autumn, Austin and Jaylin for inspiring me to keep on toddling on. They are the reasons that I set these goals and am determined to finish them out. By small means, come about great things. When we set our minds to something and focus on that finish line, even when it is over 16,000 miles and 5 years away, we can accomplish anything! I continue to see the health benefits coming from this effort. I have maintained my weight after losing 20 pounds. I definitely feel stronger and healthier than I did 4 years ago. There are still so many days when I feel like throwing in the towel. Its to hard. Im exhausted. My knees are killing me. The arthritis is kicking in. The weather is awful. I just throw those excuses in the garbage on my way out the door, and keep on toddling on... I GOT THIS!

#millersnoshnwalk week 49: We had the pleasure of hanging out with the Scurvy Dogs Book Club on the last day of the month. We had some trouble getting the gang together this month, but squeaked by on 2/28 to keep our streak alive! Going into our 11th year of the book club, we have met every month and have now read 129 books. This past month we read The Lincoln Highway, by Amor Towles, it was a good read. We met up at BBQ Pete’s and had some fantastic BBQ and invited the Scurvy Wives. I had a prime rib dip sandwich and LeAnn had the ‘Sandwich with No Name’ - sliced brisket, cheese and crispy onion straws. They even had free soft serve ice cream cones! So good.

Missionary Marathons: Sister Dummer

While on my Journey to complete walking 24,901 miles of #ToddlingAroundTheEquator, I am focusing these walks on the amazing missionaries that I know that are serving around the world. I am dedicating walking a marathon of miles for these missionaries and tag them as #missionarymarathons. I am so grateful to these faithful missionaries for dedicating their lives to teaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ! This week I have walked 26.2 miles for Sister Dummer, who is serving in our Ward. We have had the privilege of having her over to our house for lessons and for dinner. It has been great to get to know her and see her beautiful smile and the love she has for the Gospel. She has been in the mission now for almost a month, and I can tell she is going to help change so many lives for the better as a missionary! I am dedicating walking a marathon of miles for these missionaries and tag them as #missionarymarathons. I am so grateful to these faithful missionaries for dedicating their lives to teaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ! These past few weeks I have walked 150.4 miles for Elder Brendan Murphy, who is my nephew. (Gotta go a few extra marathons for my family!) I decided to walk the distance between the first two Cities he has served in in Finland, Turku and Lahti. Brendan is a special man, with a beautiful smile. He is intelligent, kind and thoughtful. It has been a privilege to watch him grow up and become such a man who is now serving the Lord with all his heart, might, mind and strength. It is an honor to be his uncle.
