Recently completed the DC #TreadmillMovieMarathons. It was a fun journey filled with bats, penguins, jokers, riddlers, lanterns, Wonders, Supers, Robins, Aquamen and Losers.
One of the statements that really stood out for me was from the ‘V for Vendetta’ movie: especially because it is so apparent in the PNW, is ‘God is in the Rain'
I hadn’t seen this one before, but there are quite a few parallels with what is going on in our day with the political climate and the pandemic.
This has made me think on how God gives us rain, which in turn gives us so much beauty and happiness and also life itself on this earth. Imagine a world without flowers and trees and lakes and rivers and oceans and all of the life therein. Without the water that gives each of us sustenance each day.
Showers, hot tubs and toilets, dishwashers and washing machines all function because of the bounty of the rain. Though we may not like it when it rains in general and we would prefer to stay out of it and be dry, and especially when it ‘rains on our parades', it is important to realize that through what might be uncomfortable at any given time when we might not especially appreciate it, this same rain can bring us joy through its end result. And so it is with life: We can grow through our trials and take that rain and turn it into a thing of beauty.
I see Austin doing this now in his life. He had some difficult times to deal with the pandemic and the injury that he had on his mission and then making the determination to move forward with faith onto the next phase of his life. He has been back at BYU now for a month and is continuing to grow in leaps and bounds. He is diving into his classes with all of his heart, might, mind and strength and coming to a better understanding of what he wants to do with his education as he looks toward the future. I am so happy for him and the path he is on. The world has a true warrior finding his way at this time.
