Seattle to Bahia Blanca: mile 6,719

05/18/2021 As I close in on this last month of the #seattletobahiablanca journey, I have been able to complete 6,719 miles and only have 301 left till I arrive in Bahia Blanca! It has been a long and tough journey, with many ups and downs. It has been painful on my body at times, but also kept me stronger. There have been days when I dread having to walk one more step, and others where I never want to stop. There were so many days that I thought of Austin out walking the streets of Argentina as a missionary and the trials and joyous moments that he had, and I felt like he was walking right beside me. Fast forward to him coming home for Covid, going back out to Las Vegas, and then coming home for surgery — so many wonderful and hard things. All which he has conquered and come out stronger because of them. As Austin has overcome those challenges, so can I keep on walking, toddle on through the pain and difficult days, get that second wind and reach my destination knowing that I never gave up and will hit that glorious day next month! +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ While walking from #SeattleToBahiaBlanca the past month,I have been continuing on the #TreadmillMovieMarathons. Some people have asked me how I watch so many movies. Get on the treadmill for an hour and a half each night, and there you go! That’s about one movie per night! 😊 I finished 32 Tom Hanks movies, aka T. Hanks 4,323 minutes, = 9.1 marathons, approximately 238 miles Tom Hanks has been doing great movies for a long time. From classics of Splash, Big, Sleepless in Seattle and Money Pit, to Castaway and Forrest Gump, we have grown up with Tom Hanks. Of course, the one that really resonates with my #ToddlingAroundTheWorld journey is Forrest Gump. A number of people have commented to me since I have been doing this for 5 years now, to ‘Run, Todd! Run!, and though I walk, instead of run. This resonates with me: I have been walking at least 9 miles a day for 4 years, 10 months and 12 days since Autumn left on her mission. I’m pretty tired.. #millersnoshnwalk week 49: We had the pleasure of hanging out with the Scurvy Dogs Book Club on the last day of the month. We had some trouble getting the gang together this month, but squeaked by on 2/28 to keep our streak alive! Going into our 11th year of the book club, we have met every month and have now read 129 books. This past month we read The Lincoln Highway, by Amor Towles, it was a good read. We met up at BBQ Pete’s and had some fantastic BBQ and invited the Scurvy Wives. I had a prime rib dip sandwich and LeAnn had the ‘Sandwich with No Name’ - sliced brisket, cheese and crispy onion straws. They even had free soft serve ice cream cones! So good.

Missionary Marathons: Sister Dummer

While on my Journey to complete walking 24,901 miles of #ToddlingAroundTheEquator, I am focusing these walks on the amazing missionaries that I know that are serving around the world. I am dedicating walking a marathon of miles for these missionaries and tag them as #missionarymarathons. I am so grateful to these faithful missionaries for dedicating their lives to teaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ! This week I have walked 26.2 miles for Sister Dummer, who is serving in our Ward. We have had the privilege of having her over to our house for lessons and for dinner. It has been great to get to know her and see her beautiful smile and the love she has for the Gospel. She has been in the mission now for almost a month, and I can tell she is going to help change so many lives for the better as a missionary! While on my Journey to complete walking 24,901 miles of #ToddlingAroundTheEquator, I am focusing these walks on the amazing missionaries that I know that are serving around the world. I am dedicating walking a marathon of miles for these missionaries and tag them as #missionarymarathons. I am so grateful to these faithful missionaries for dedicating their lives to teaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ! These past few weeks I have walked 150.4 miles for Elder Brendan Murphy, who is my nephew. (Gotta go a few extra marathons for my family!) I decided to walk the distance between the first two Cities he has served in in Finland, Turku and Lahti. Brendan is a special man, with a beautiful smile. He is intelligent, kind and thoughtful. It has been a privilege to watch him grow up and become such a man who is now serving the Lord with all his heart, might, mind and strength. It is an honor to be his uncle.
